Our Family

Hannah Kay is 5 years old.  She was born on November 2, 2000.  She has been the biggest blessing to her Daddy and me.  She is bright and sunny, smart, and very caring.  She has a beautiful, vivid imagination and also a good head on her shoulders--I marvel at how God could weave so many wonderful characterisitics into one little being.  My favorite thing about her is that she loves the Lord.  She loves to read her Bible - mimicking our morning quiet time (only in her cup is milk, not coffee).  There is often worship a song on her lips and she has such a tender heart toward honoring her Lord.  Many mornings she gets dressed straight into "dress up" clothes - a soft, long sleeve velour dress in August or a swim suit and her robe both usually accompanied by her pink ballet slippers.

One of her favorite topics, as well as one of mine, the topic of her little sister.  You see, Ryan and I wove through the agony of infertility with miscarriages both before and after her birth.  She doesn't really know the long road that brought us to adoption.  All she knows is one day while we were dining at Chili's, when she was barely 4, we asked her if she might like to have a little brother or sister.  You see, Hannah had never, ever mentioned having a sibling before that conversation at dinner.  I think that God was sparing her grieving mother the pain of having her ask for something that I couldn't give her.  But that night, the light bulb lit up and she has been waiting for that little sister---loving and praying for her ever since.
